Nuggets from Luke - Launch out into the deep
Recently, Holy Spirit invited me to take the time to carefully examine the richness and life that Luke’s gospel contains. His continual emphasis on particular phrases and words have comforted, challenged, and settled me. I am grateful.
To preface, I have been in an extended season packed with revelation and transition that, to say the least, has been exhilarating, uncomfortable, peaceful, and perplexing. Yet despite all the shaking and stirring, Holy Spirit has been consistent in His guidance and care for me.
I will be brief, as the sense of what He ministered in Luke 5:4-11 was also brief - even though the blossoming of my heart, soul, mind, and body is vast.
“Launch out into the deep and let down your nets for a catch.”
Regardless of the discomfort and uncertainty; regardless of what is or is not finished; regardless of what people may or may not think - trust Me and My leading.
“Master we have toiled all night and caught nothing; nevertheless at Your word I will let down the net.”
Your toiling has come from trying to control the outcome. You are only to tend and keep what I have spoken. I will make it grow. You can’t.
“And when they had done this, they caught a great number of fish and their net was breaking.”
Just take the next step that’s in front of you.
“So they signaled to their partners in the other boat to come and help them. And they came and filled both boats so that they began to sink.”
My kingdom is advanced in communion with others. It cannot be contained. Nor can it be stewarded alone.
“When Simon Peter saw it, he fell down at Jesus’ knees, saying, ‘Depart from me, for I am a sinful man, O Lord!’”
Worship and repentance are two of My greatest grace gifts.
“Do not be afraid. From now on you will catch men.”
Only be strong and of good courage. I am watching over My word to perform it.
“So when they had brought their boats to land, they forsook all and followed Him.”
But Lord, what about them? What is that to you? You follow Me.
Whatever season you are in, in Jesus name I pray, as His word speaks to you, that you too will follow.
Nevertheless…at Your word…I will…
