Hope
For in this hope we were saved. But hope that is seen is no hope at all. Who hopes for what they already have? Romans 8:24
Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen (Hebrews 11:1 NKJV).
Hebrews 11:1 is a powerful scripture revealing a kingdom law that faith is substance - a setting under; a support (Strong’s). The missing ingredient in many believers is hope.
Hope, also defined by Strongs, means to anticipate usually with pleasure, expectation, confidence. But how many times have you heard, “Don’t get your hopes up?” Implying, you may want to trust something more tangible.
Hope does not seem as trustworthy as a math equation which has an expected outcome. Hope is a thought process that is founded on the Word of God. Memories of promises, healing, but most importantly, a love for Jesus and what He spoke.
For we were saved in this hope, but hope that is seen is not hope; for why does one still hope for what he sees? (Romans 8:25 NKJV)
Hope is more than a “hope so” attitude. As in most every meaningful venture, careful thought, and meditation on God’s promises must be established in our heart. The devil, through one thought we allow in our heart, will discourage even the mature saint. Jesus won the battle for us. What’s left is renewing our minds to His word and promises.
And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God (Romans 12:2 NKJV).
It is that simple, but this lifestyle in not a walk in the park.
A child does not lie awake at night wondering if his or her parents will provide food and clothing. Our confidence in what Jesus has done for us should be even greater. We need to have childlike faith in the laws of the kingdom and receive. Let hope become a habit.
